The right equipment: how to choose the mattress.

In the market there are multitude of materials and garments. We must know our needs to determine the cushion we need.

Not all materials provide the same features. But it is also true that none is a priori better than another, just a few features will best suit our needs for comfort and rest than others.

But every mattress should have basic characteristics to ensure a restful sleep and healthy:

  • Temperature control. All mattresses must be breathable to prevent accumulation of moisture or temperature. This accumulation does not affect the synthetic materials like viscoelastic memory foam, but it has an impact on our quality of sleep and comfort.
  • Suitable comfort properties. It is not advisable to sleep on a very hard mattress or too soft. Depending on our characteristics we must choose a mattress core which provide us with a firmness, elasticity and good adaptability and, above all, provide us pleasurable sensations to lie down and rest.

  • Quality of materials. It is essential that all the mattress materials (including the cover) have the highest quality.

  • Safety and hygiene. To enjoy fully confident of our rest, we must ensure the certification of the materials available to our mattress so we can ensure a hygienic and healthy rest.

With regard to materials, we must know the characteristics of each one to see if it suits our needs or not. For example, no matter how somebody have spoken us about viscoelastic memory foam, we must think that it always generates increased warmth. Therefore, if you are people who perspire a lot, you may have to opt for other solutions or combined core that provide us the characteristics of the viscoelastic but elminating the accumulated heat.

Likewise, it is unthinkable that we decide on a firm HR base, if you often suffer from bone pain. Might be better a viscoelastic or latex mattress for their adaptability.
