Variables in the rest equation
We might think that for a good rest we only need a good bed and a good mattress. Indeed, these are, perhaps, the most importat variables, but there are another important variables.
Let's see these variables:
Rest equipment
Our system is essential to enjoy a good rest. A rest system consists of a bed, a mattress, a pillow and the accessories such as sheets. We need aA rest system that suits our comfort needs.
A fixed or motorised bed with an elastic suspension system, a mattress that fits our environment and make us feel comfortable and relaxed during the night, and a pillow of suitable thickness and material.
Our bedroom
It is also essential to have a fixed place to rest. This space should have a comfortable temperature (neither high or low) and should be well ventilated. Additionally, it must respect a minimum noise and lighting.
Finally, this ambient should provide us serenity and tranquility to enjoy our dream.
Resting position
Experts suggest you to sleep on your back (supine position) because in this way our rest system supports our spine fully respecting its natural curvature. Thus facilitate blood circulation and a perfect relaxation of the nervous system.
Another accepted form of rest is on your side (lateral position) because if we have a good rest system, this will adapt to our body and maintain a good support to the natural position of our spine.
It is inadvisable to sleep face down (prone position) because we are changing the natural curvature of our spine.
Over time, if we usually use this position may occur in bone, neck and spine problems.
Food
It also has an impact on our rest.
A diet too heavy and laden with stimulants (coffee, tea, ...) and alcohol will cause a lack of reconciliation of sleep or a discontinued rest.
Tobacco is also one of the factors that prevent sleep and also causes us to wake up several times during the night.
Linked to food, if we practice daily exercise can help us to relax and sleep more deeply.
